Davis Plastics, Inc. has approved the expansion of our manufacturing company into Brazil. With the current acquisition of a manufacturing producer in this country we are pleased to announce that Davis will not be hiring any new personnel for the facility only keeping those local employees due to strategic management such as low wages, diversity, culture and beliefs, and boosting Brazil’s economy with their own people.
Organizational Culture
Brazil’s organizational culture will be determined by the following characteristics: observing the behavioral regularities, as the common language, terminology, and rituals; norms as reflected by things such as the amount of work to be done and the degree of cooperation between management and employees; dominant values that the organization advocates and expects participants to share, such as high product and service quality, low absenteeism, and high efficiency; a philosophy that Davis’ beliefs regarding how employees and customers should be treated; rules that dictate the do’s and don’ts of employee behavior relating to areas such as productivity, customer relations, and intergroup cooperation; organizational climate as reflected by the way participants interact with each other, conduct themselves with customers, and feel about the way they are treated by higher level management.
The majority of Brazil’s religion is Christian, their greatest holiday is Carnival which lasts 5 days, and Brazilians’ behave naturally and spontaneously in meetings and will almost always talk about personal affairs and the meeting’s agenda so never underestimate the way they conduct business. Brazilian conversation is cordial, complex, informal, and personal. Brazilian communication is complex, including elements of verbal and non-verbal communication and great use of body language. Family culture would suit best with this operation because Brazil is highly personal regarding family life and Davis promotes family members as their employees in the United States so this is a perfect fit for the company. The official Brazilian language is Portuguese and English is widely used in the country. They should never be mistaken for Latino or Mexican because their descendants are from Portugal.
