The department of Canadian Natural Resources are leading in the proactive measures to eradicate non-indigenous species that took 5 years to complete. The Canadian Forest services (Scientist) developed import and export regulations to prevent the entry of invasive pests. The International Standards for Phytosanitary Measures (ISPM). In addition the Canadian food inspection agency which is another department of the federal government, established a program that would facilitate the monitoring and management process of pest control. This is to ensure that threat of destruction is eliminated and that the programs implemented are successful.The Canadian are the biggest stakeholders because the forest industry is at harm and one of the biggest contributors to our economy. The government of Canada acts on behalf of all Canadians. Many ministries are there to protect our natural resources. The following department are stakeholders: Natural Resources Canada have the responsibility to plan, manage, and implement laws, practices, research and analysis on natural disturbances throughout Canada. Canada Forest Services (Scientists) is a branch within the NRC and they do the research to detect signs and symptom that the beetle creates when it invades the tree and the environment, they recommend measures that need to be put in place to eliminate the species complete with regular inspections to make sure the problem in under control. This branch is responsible for the international standards for the packaging of wood. Their measures solved the problem with the Longhorn beetle.(CFI)Canadian Food Inspection Industry and (CBSA) Canadian Border Services. Agency were instrumental at intercepting potential threats- ensuring our borders are well monitored for the protection of our fragile and diverse ecosystems. The protection of these environments are essential to major Industries. For example the loss of maple trees would be a multi-million dollar lost. Another large industry is with wood commonalties that would include construction, roads, housing, firewood and Tourism.
