Design review
The term design review refers to a specific management technique that is used primarily for the purposes of conducting a thorough evaluation of a proposed design in hopes of determining whether or not that current proposed design will in fact meet the project requirements set forth by the customer
The basic types of reviews are as follows.
Conceptual design review: Once the operational requirement and maintenance concepts have been defined for the local area network, this review can be conducted. The studies conducted like site survey, data rate requirement, cable laying etc are carefully reviewed in this stage
System Design Review: These are generally conducted during the preliminary phase of the design. This may be conduct more than once depends up on the size of the network, complexity of the network and the number of equipments such as switches and routers used. This review is used to determine whether the design meets all the system requirement and provided documents supports the design.
Software Simulation: Lots of networking simulation software is currently available in the market. Once the design is approved, the simulation of network is performed, so that it is easy to determine whether the current design can meet the requirements. If not, the design has to be changed and has to repeat the above process.
Critical design review: Once the network design is confirmed, a detailed review is conducted. This is to make sure that, all the customer requirements are satisfied and the cost of network construction is within the budget constraints.
