There is a lot more to understanding “Homosexuality”. First you would have to define it to better understand it. Homosexuality is romantic and/or sexual attraction or behavior between members of the same sex or gender. This means to me, that “Homosexuality” is that same sex whether female or male is attracted to the same sex and within a relationship. There may be more definitions for “Homosexuality”, but this is the most relevant for me. “Homosexuality” also refers to an individuals sense of personal and social identity based on homosexual attractions and behavior expressing them. There are different terms to “Homosexuality”, also. The term Homosexual is just a characteristic of Homosexuality. The term “Gay” which has a different meaning in most dictionaries but within the homosexual community “Gay” means you are attracted to the same sex as you. Gay, like “Homosexual” is a term applicable to both men and women and many woman-related women consider gay to be milder and less stigmatizing a term than is lesbian (Ponse Barbara 114). Sexual orientation, sexual identity, and sexual behavior all describe the pattern of sexual attraction, behavior and identity. Some examples of terms of “Homosexuality” are gay which refers to men, lesbian which refers to women, Bisexual which refers to someone that is attracted to the opposite sex and the same sex. There are also types of homosexuals with terms or slang like queer, butch, dike, lipstick lesbian, top, bottom, etc. Homosexuality is not something you can catch from someone. Being homosexual does not mean you are a contagious. I do not believe that if you are around someone that is a homosexual that you will become homosexual. Some people may believe this but I dont. The behaviors of some people, makes it hard for the homosexual community.
There are many pertaining issues to being Homosexual. One of the issues is “Coming out”. Coming out is just letting people know you are homosexual; it is easy for some but harder for others (Levin Martin P 103). Most homosexuals are afraid to come out. They are afraid to come out, due to what people would think about them. They dont want to be ridiculed. Just like anyone that is different, homosexuals want to be accepted by this society. If a person was heterosexual (straight) or (attracted to the opposite sex) and a little different in there style of clothes, hair, and looks they would still want to be accepted and have friends and family. There are a lot of people who do not like or want to be around anybody that is homosexual, most call them homophobic. Some show their mean-spirited homophobic behavior and some just choose not to be around them. I believe it is an individuals chose to accept someone but, I also believe you should not treat anybody mean or unfairly. There are also many issues that some churches have with “Homosexuality”. Some churches feel “Homosexuality” is a sin. Some churches feel it is an abomination. Some churches believe that “Homosexuality” is a choice yet; some homosexuals believe it is a choice or they were born that way. Some churches also believe they can cure
