This Chapter teaches you about many things. One of the things is what to do when approaching an intersection. Another thing is when you move after stopping you need to look both ways and then check your blind zones and only then you accelerate on. Another thing that this chapter talks about is how to handle controlled intersections; a controlled intersection is one at which traffic signals or signs determine the right of way. There are two different types of green lights; one of them is stale green lights – a green light that has been green for a long time. And the second green light is a fresh green light – a green light that has just turned green. This chapter also talks about many smaller but equally as important topics such as: Yellow lights, Red lights, Unprotected left turns, Protected left turns, Left-turn light, Green arrow, Delayed green light, Turns on red, Right on red, and Controlled Railroad Crossings. What do you do when you reach an uncontrolled intersection, you do the IPDE process but not as normal you will need to do that process around 12-15 seconds before the uncontrolled intersection.
Also whenever you see a yield sign see what or whose right of way it is at that exact moment, if you do this every time you might just save your car and avoid and accident. There are more situations that you need to yield to the right of way not only when you see a yield sign. Such as : Yield at fresh Green Lights, Yield at Four Way Stops, Yield at uncontrolled intersections, Yield when turning left at any intersection, Yield to Emergency Vehicles, Yield when leaving from Alleys, driveways, and private roads, and Yield at Stop Signs.
