Law Group Activity
What was the most difficult part of this exercise?
The most difficult part of this excessive was deciding on who was going to enforce the laws. Unlike the society we currently live in, on a stranded island we wouldn’t have people designated to carrying out punishments like police officers. It was hard for our group to decide on who would carry out the punishments as well as what those punishments would be. As a group, we were all able to come to a consensus that the punishment would be decided by a vote from all members. This vote would decide not only what the punishment would be, but also how it would be carried out and by whom. Another part of the activity that proved difficult for me was trying to get everyone’s opinion in the group. In every society there are members that are much more vocal in their opinions and others who are soft spoken. Similarly in our group there were very vocal members and very quiet members. Trying to get input from the quieter members proved difficult and it made it harder to get everyone opinion in the group. This made coming to a decision for a law or punishment very difficult.

In a group of only 10 people, if even 2 people started a fight it could spread through the group and put everyone’s lives at risk. In addition, it would prevent us from completing our daily tasks which are critical to survival. Furthermore, the violence, fighting and even killing will raise tension between
