Most people think that dirt biking and racing motocross is a sport for panzies. Its not, it takes a lot of strength and determination to get on a dirt bike and go out riding for hours on end or race 115% for 30 minutes plus two laps. Motocross takes a lot of mental and physical determination. It take extreme fitness to be able to go over a double or a triple or to blitz woops and then slow down from 50 mph to 30 in two seconds and go through a turn and keep your speed up then shoot out the corner and do it all again.
Dirt biking is not just a physically demanding sport. It will also break your wallet. If you are looking into starting to dirt bike and race you will have to have a deep pocket or be really good and get signed to a team early. The reason for this is because a bike cost between 2,000-14,000 dollars. After you get the bike you will need gear, like a helmet, jersey, gloves, pants, boots, knee braces, goggles, tear offs, long socks, and if you want it a neck guard and chest protector, that normally will cost about 800 dollars. With all this said and done now you need oil, extra parts, air filter cleaner and oil, numbers for your plates, and gas, these things cost you about 150 dollars per race. Now you have to pay for a day of practice so that when you go racing you dont look like a noob, this normally cost you 100 dollars or more per practice. Here comes the fun part, paying for the drive to the race and the race its self. Depending on how far you go to race you will spend from 100-1,000 dollars on gas to and from the race. The race itself will cost you about 100 dollars for entry, entry into your class and any other class you will be doing. Two things that are mandatory to race are an AMA membership and a 200 dollar transponder for lap times and placement. If you have all of this together and can pay for it you will be set to race motocross.

That means you will need to get all your dirt bike gear cleaned and put together, change the oil in your bike, clean and re-oil your air filter , mix your gas (if you have a two stroke), wash your bike to make it shinny, check your tires and make shore they will not go flat, fill your tank so you have a full tank going into the race, and last but not least leave to the race all packed up and ready to go. Saturday, witch will be the day you sign up for the race and make shore you have everything to race, you will also be on the track in your practice so you can get familiar to it so there are no surprises on race day. A good night sleep is very important that night because the next day is race day. Sunday, this is when you race, you will need to wake up at 7 a.m. so that you can put all your gear on, put gas in the bike, check every last part on your bike to make shore nothing will break and sit to wait till
