What initially sparked my interest in this issue was, every time I drove to Globe, I would pass by a sign on the highway, next to a dirt road, that said “Superior Animal Rescue”. This sparked my curiosity, as I knew the only thing down that dirt road had always been the city recycling plant and the city animal shelter.
Knowing the city shelter was down there, I proceeded down the dirt road and found many dogs in outside kennels and no people onsite. It was obvious there were more unwanted animals there than I could imagine.
After getting in contact with the lady there who ran this rescue shelter, she confirmed my concern of an overwhelming number of so many animals being abandoned.
What concerned my most at the time was there were so many dogs just caged up, without any protection from the sun or rain, and were not receiving any social contact.
I value this issue because it wild, or free roaming animals are widely criticized, and much animosity is created by individuals who fail to understand the reason this happens, and that every one person actually can make a difference.
My perspective on this issue is too many individuals are failing to see how this overpopulation epidemic continues to occur, individuals place blame on everyone else for letting it transpire.
Im not sure how my values and perspective will influence my research I am doing, other than, I believe its an important issue that needs resolve, and hope somehow I can play a part in finding a solution or influence the audience to realize the significance of the topic.
My experience or generally issue occurring is, there are so many stray animals running scared among businesses and homes, and new construction building sites. These animals are being labeled as a nuisance, and some are actually being abused. Criticizing and not contributing a simple act wont make these “nuisances” go away. Spay and neutering is key in more than one way!
