2015/7/15Who Gets the Overtime? Discussion ExerciseFor our Final Allocation Group Assignment, the ranking is just the same as I did, but the difference is the hours of time allocation we eventually figured out. The final decision would be that both Chris and Fran can get 7 hours for overtime workload, because we considered that both should earn equal money to raise their family. Sara can get 4 hours, because she has to take care of her school work. Lynn can get 2 hours, because she is new to the company. My choice of ranking will be from the first to the least: Fran, Chris, Sara, and Lynn. However, Adrian doesn’t need to take overtime job. In the following paragraph, I will discuss how our groups thought about how to give each four of them allocate the overtime distribution of the work in the company and how our groups decided whether they should do any overtime job or not. Chris and Fran will be the first choice of consideration to give the same amount of overtime workload. First, Fran needs to share expenses with her fiancée and she needs to go to MBA program. Taking around 7 hours overtime job will be helpful for her to earn enough money to work half time and go to class half time. Chria is another person who needs more overtime jobs, because he has to raise three children and costs more than others. He is responsible for working more in order to earn more for his children. However, he still needs to spend time raising his children and his family. I think I won’t allocate him too much workload. So, he probably needs around 7 hours overtime workload to help him support his financial situation.

Sara is the third, because, considering her financial problems, she needs around 4 hours overtime workload to take care both her academic life and family. Too much workload won’t help her maintain good GPA, but she still needs to gain some experiences in the company in order to be competitive for her future career.Lynn only needs the least overtime workload, which around 2 hours. Although she is the least experienced employee in the company, she still needs to learn more and work more in order to adapt the enterprise environment and professional skills in the company.         Adrian doesn’t need any overtime workload, because he doesn’t have to worry about his financial situation and he is the most senior and experienced employee. Also, because he often donates his money to the church, he doesn’t need extra payments. He is single, so he doesn’t have any pressure from raising his family. Also, Adrian feels seniority entitles first consideration for new opportunities, so that’s why he should be the only one who doesn’t need any overtime workload or any financial support at this moment.
