“Before the Flood” is a documentary in which Leonardo DiCaprio showed how we all should be alarmed about global warming, something that was already a big problem in our planet but was ignored and was not given attention to in recent years. Either everyone thinks that climate change is real or not, and the battle lines aren’t’t likely to be shifted by an earnest movie star. Mr. Leonardo DiCaprio, being responsible up to his capability as a designated United Nations Messenger of Peace, visited different kinds of places to see what was going on such as melting ice fields, flew over a bleak petroleum landscape, pats an Indonesian elephant, and so on. But anyone who has paused even briefly on a nature or science program on television has seen such images repeatedly, often with faces just as famous as Mr. DiCaprio’s.        The documentary film displayed by detailing specific things individuals can do to lessen the environmental damage, but those suggestions end up being disappointingly few. People who are carnivores should eat less beef and more chicken because raising cattle damages the planet more than raising chickens does. Stop buying products that use palm oil which production degrades rain forests.       Also it was presented in the film that a Paris Climate Summit was held wherein different leaders around the world gathered to discuss more about climate change. According to the to the film, the expected key result was an agreement to set a goal of limiting global warming to less than 2 degrees Celsius compared to pre-industrial levels. The agreement calls for zero net anthropogenic greenhouse gas emissions to be reached during the second half of the 21st century. In the adopted version of the Paris Agreement, the parties will also “pursue efforts to” limit the temperature increase to 1.5 °C. The 1.5 °C goal will require zero emissions sometime between 2030 and 2050, according to some scientists.        The documentary film opened the eyes of almost everyone who watched it, it showed how we should all be concerned on what is happening around us. Climate change is really happening and that we still have the chance to prevent and stop it. It all depends in our hands, for change should start within us. We can stop the things that we do everyday that affects our environment. Everyone has the ability to do the right things to save our Mother Earth.         We are now living in a world where everything is innovated, everything is accessible but we forgot to take care of the things that the Creator has given into us. The film captivated us viewers since it was very informative and it really depicted the reality that we are going through today. As what we have also noticed while living as a millennials it is so easy for some people to talk about gossips and pointless issues while dealing with this serious topic, they find it boring and irrelevant wherein perhaps this should be one of the issue that we have to be the most concerned about. Climate change is not a joke as we are already experiencing it catastrophes can kill thousands of people in just a matter of minutes. Let’s just take example the Typhoon Yolanda that hit the country 3 years ago that was the most tragic and unforgettable disaster that the country has experienced it took away thousands of life of our co-citizens and still many of them was left unseen that kind of disaster was already a warning to us that Mother Nature is now taking it’s vengeance. The world is really different now as climate change and global warming has already took over the entire planet but there is no one to be blamed but also us people we should be the one who is responsible with our environment since we are the ones living on it but what we do is the opposite we use the nature for our own greed just like what was shown in the film, the government was paid by some wealthy businessmen so that they can continue to do killing the environment and still it was money and power that will overcome the decision.
