These kids are known as the socials or socs for short. Although some socs just drive by in their expensive cars and yell піÐGreaser!піЅ , a lot of them like to jump greasers just because they are low class from east side. Greasers are like hoodlums. They steal, drink lots of beer, get into fights, steal old cars etc. They narrator doesnпіЅt do these things, because his older brother Darry would kill him. Their parents died in a car crash, so they canпіЅt afford any trouble.
A red Corvair soon pulled up beside him and five Socs got out. He was really scared after seeing Johnny (a member of the gang) beat up by some Socs. Graphic: The Story of Gatherings of a Stag
The “Hog’s Tail” was the name coined by the gang back in 1969. During a “scatter-out raid,” a gang member was caught stealing a bag of chicken from a Stag. He was given the tag, which was apparently used to identify the suspect. As he got close enough to steal the bag into a barn he was met by a gang member, who went about his business. The man eventually realized that, had he simply been walking to his own barn, he could have saved his own life. піЅ “¡¿¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡” (“The Hog’s Tail.”
The story is told in the episode:
An old man on fire, who had been a Stag for about 20 years, was startled by a sudden thump. He saw a huge white and blue “Hog” hanging down, his head resting on the hot straw on which it was being laid. The creature was only about 5’5″, and had quite a long tail. He tried frantically to get the tail free but couldn’t. Then he heard a loud voice at his left side. Then he saw it. Then he noticed a white head hanging on the straw around the outside and said “That’s me”.
