Students today need more discipline due to parent leniency; therefore, the students are acting out in their schools to make up for the attention that they could be receiving at home. Hence, schools should be a place of comfort and not a place of stricter rules and policies. This means that in a room full of students, half of them will never graduate. Even though many students thrive in school, some students can lose interest. Schools seem more like a punishment because of tighter security and stricter rules, and therefore, the dropout rate is extremely high. Through change and listening to the youth, it may be possible to decrease these statistic ratings.
When 500 dropouts between the ages of 16 and 25 were interviewed, the students gave many reasons for leaving school:
47% said classes were not interesting
43% missed too many days to catch up
45% entered high school poorly prepared by their earlier schooling
69% said that they were not motivated to work hard
35% said they were failing
32% said they left to go find a job
25% left to become parents
22% left to take care of a relative

Students need more support in schools. Stricter rules are not the answer for the students. The strictness in schools is one of the reasons that student’s dropout. Schools need to adapt to the students because Dropout rates are way too high and Students do not want to go to school. Many events may contribute to these rates and may involve issues at home and at school. Some of these issues, for example, are pregnancy, emotional abuse at home, physical abuse, mental abuse, family issues, and stress. Many of the reasons that teenagers are dropping out of High Schools are: stress, too many restrictions, and privacy issues. Students do not find schools as interesting as they did many years ago. This might be caused by the difficulty of classes, personality conflicts with the teachers, or placement in the wrong classes. Students are not enjoying the classes they are put
