The adoption of “Open Door Policy” by the Chinese government gave rise to the above two places. Due to historical reason, Hong Kong has long to be an international financial center (Jao, 1997). Meanwhile, the emergence of Shanghai pressures on and threaten the economic status of Hong Kong (Yeung, 2001). Though the dynamic economic environment is subject to many attributes, location remains influential to the development progress of a city. Therefore this essay is going to study the location and economic development of both Hong Kong and Shanghai.
