Edward Theodore Gein, also known as Ed Gein, was born August 27, 1906. He was born in a town called La Crosse, Wisconsin. Ed Gein’s farther, George Gein, was an alcoholic. Ed, his brother, and their mom, Augusta, hated George. Augusta left George and moved the boys out to a small farming town called Plainfield. Augusta moved Ed and Henry, his older brother, out to Plainfield so she called keep them separated from everyone else. Gein only left the farm to go to school, and then he came straight home. He was not allowed to have any friends. Augusta made Ed do a lot of chores on the farm. Augusta was a Lutheran, and she told the boys that drinking was evil and that all women (not including her) were whores and prostitutes. Every afternoon she would read the Bible and would select graphic verses from the Old Testament that had death, murder, and divine retribution. Ed had a slight growth over one eye, feminine qualities, so the young Ed became a target for bullies. Teachers and students said that Ed would randomly start laughing, like he was laughing at one of his personal jokes. He had poor social development. Ed did okay in school, especially in reading and the study world economics. George died in 1940, and Henry began to bad-mouth his mother in front of Ed. In March 1944, Ed and Henry were caught in the middle of a brush fire, Ed went and got the police and told them he didn’t know where his brother went, but he led them directly to Henry. Henry had severe trauma to his head, but the doctor said he died from not enough oxygen to the brain. Then Ed and his mother lived alone. His mother died less than 2 years later, on December 29, 1945, which left Ed to the farmhouse all alone. Ed didn’t have to farm the land anymore because the government gave him money to help him out, but he did odd jobs around the town for the residents for extra cash. But he stayed alone in the huge farmhouse, haunted by the ghost of his mother, whose bedroom he kept locked and untouched, just like it was before she died. He locked off the drawing room and five more upstairs rooms, and he lived in only in one downstairs room and the kitchen. “Weird Old EddieвЂ™Ð²Ð‚™ began to have a weird and unhealthy interest in the intimate anatomy of the female body. He started to study books on anatomy, pulp horror novels, medical encyclopedias, and pornographic magazines. He became especially interested in the atrocities that the Nazi’s did, and the medical experiments that the Nazi’s did to the Jews in the concentration camp. Ed’s crazy obsession led to murders. Ed began digging up decaying female corpses during the night, and tanned them. He would dissect them and keep parts of the head, sex organs, livers, hearts and intestines. Then he would skin them, and then putting in on a dummy or wearing it himself to dance and prance around the house. Ed only took the body parts that interested him. He became fascinated with the female genitalia. He would fondle and play with, and sometime stuffing them into panties and would wear it around the house. He discouraged visitors from coming near his house. Ed’s odd fascination with the female body led him to pick out fresher samples. His victims were usually his mother’s age.
