Romeo and Juliet–Together (and Alive!) at Last by AVI
This novel isnt about death and despair, it consists of a marvelous love story with a very happy ending. Ed Sitrow is an 8th grader with a friend with a problem, his friend Peter Saltz has a mad crush on a girl named Anabell Stackpool (and Stackpool may as well have a crush on him). Neither one pay any sort of attention to one another. So Ed thinks up a genius idea of enacting a Romeo and Juliet play, in which Saltz is Romeo, and Stackpool Juliet. They picked Romeo and Juliet because there are many kissing/touching scenes in the play. Ed takes many challenges into setting up the play and finding people to do this role, set up this part of the stage, do the lights, etc. Eds play had many flaws, but it was a huge success every seat in the auditorium he composed it in was full, and Ed finally got his two buddies together. They always did their usual business but they were in love, maybe even inseparable.
The characters in this story were all defined differently by the author, each one portraits a different tone as the one before. Not many had the same personality either. Every character has distinct qualities, such as Hamilton. Hamilton has to be the bad ass, self centered, hero wanna-be. His habits are making every ones life miserable at the benefit of a laugh, such as the laugh on Peter and Anabells being Romeo and Juliet. Another character of quality is Ed Sitrow. He is a smart kid with potential, he made his own play, he helped a friend in need, he arranged meeting, he does well in classes, he knows what to do when someone is in need. Overall, he would be sort of the angel character in a story as opposed to Hamilton the rat of every story.
