The Effect of Daily Activities on the Environment
The Effect of Daily Activities on The Environment
Our environment today requires us to take care of it to survive. People have negatively affected it by pollution and building. It takes a few changes to daily activities to help improve it. My daily activities consisted of driving, eating food, and reusing/recycling. How do these daily activities affect the environment?
Ninety percent of Americans drive at least eighty-seven minutes a day, and I am amongst those people. A car’s exhaust releases gases in our ozone. These gases include hydrocarbons, nitrogen oxides, carbon monoxide, and carbon dioxide. These are just some of the gases it releases. If you were to look up these gases, what you will find is not pretty. Not only does the gas increase ground-level ozone, but it is also harmful to humans, like you and me. Some of the gases are quite deadly to humans. Next time I got to go to the store, I am going to ride with someone or try riding my bike, helping the environment while saving money.
Everyone has to eat food, no matter what. How much food do you get on your plate; do you usually waste food? A hundred and thirty-three billion pounds of food is wasted annually in America. That is a lot of food; imagine how many hungry people you could feed with that. I am no saint, and I grab too much food thinking “oh, I will eat all this when I cannot.” When the food ends up in a landfill, it starts to produce a large amount of methane, a powerful greenhouse gas. Also, when you throw away one kilogram of beef, you waste an estimated 50,000 liters of water that they use to produce the meat. I hate the fact that I waste food when someone could eat it. One step I am going to take to save food is get smaller serving sizes, then if I am still hungry, go back for seconds. By taking caution when I eat, I lower the amount of food being wasted and lower the chance of methane gas being released.
Do you eat organic or local food? Only forty-five percent of people seek out organic or local food in America. Eating organic food helps the environment and your body while being delicious. When
