Effect of Optimal Utilization of Ftl in Supply Chain Using Shared Logistic
SynopsisEffect of Optimal utilization of FTL in supply chain using shared logisticNameFT NumberAnkur PashineFT181017Nithyapriya VeeraraghavanFT181052Rohit KumarFT181072The Indian logistics sector is evolving rapidly and it consists of infrastructure, technology and other services that define whether we can reduce logistics costs and provide effective services to our customers. For companies, the focus is shifting towards reducing lead times in order to add value and increase profits.Transportation of goods using road transport is highly fragmented and largely unorganized. Major share of logistic transportation occurs through road. Whether our service location is remote area, small town or places where other transportation is not possible, road transportation can provide door delivery system for retailers. Hence reducing the timing of delivery and improving the margin of profit which eventually lead to improved cost efficiencies and a better supply chain system.A Full Truck Load (FTL) means enough products (which can be bulk/liquid) to fill a Full Truck Load. Use of truck to FTL in an optimal way reduces transportation costs, number of deliveries, and risk of damage to products caused by extra space in a trailer. Full truck loading helps in improving mileage/time between two orders from delivery location to the next loading location. Empty space minimization leads to reduction of costs through better truck utilization and an increase in the amount of orders delivered per resource.
