Effective Communication
The importance of effective communication is needed throughout life itself. For instance, within couples, a household, school, as well as the place of employment. Communication consists of two or more people in which information is exchanged from one person to another. The objectives that will be touched within this paper is the process of verbal and nonverbal communication, differences between listening and hearing communication, formal and informal channels of communication, barriers to effective communication, and strategies that can be implemented to overcome communication. Within the criminal justice organizations communication is extremely important within policing, judges, attorneys, or any of the fields as well as the victim that is being detained or about to be sentenced or released.
The verbal, and nonverbal are forms of communication that people use to communication as well as written communication. Verbal communication orally transmits information involving two or more people orally whether face to face, or on the phone. As for the non-verbal communication a person communicates by using body language, face expressions, gestures, and para-language. Using the non-verbal communication the receiver needs to be careful on how they can interpret the message. The written communication is also important in the way one communicates nowadays such as social media, letters, emails, messages, and so forth. In the criminal justice organization it is important that officers, and the entire chain of command communicate in an effective and appropriate way because it is very easy to misinterpret the message that is being provided by the receiver causing all sorts of chaos.
The differences in listening and hearing communication is that listening allows to be able to receive the message as well as interpret and also requires focus. When the listener is not listening accordingly then the receiver is going to misinterpret the message. As for hearing it is refers more like to noises, or sounds and listening not only does one have to pay attention to what is being said but also the tone of voice that is being used and the body language.
