Egyptian Slaves- Are civilizations always civilized?
There is much controversy over weather not Egyptian servants were to be called slaves or servants. This is because; Egypts slaves were treated very differently than in other civilizations. Although being a slave was always a hard and usually miserable lifestyle. These slaves could be enslaved or they could sell themselves to slave- traders to repay depts. Slavery in Egypt began in 1500 BCE. Obviously to slaves, civilizations were not always civilized. In the perspective of Egyptian slaves, civilizations were not always civilized because they were treated poorly, had low social statuses, and had no freedom. Slaves in Egypt had many different tasks such as being house slaves, building pyramids, or working for pharos.
Most slaves in Egypt worked hard from sunrise to sunset. The difficulty of tasks varied from specializing in hard labor or being a scribe for a pharos. Slaves normally were fed little food and water. The slaves who were forced to build pyramids had the hardest jobs. They had to do exhausting work all day long. Social classes and how slaves were ranked also proved that the civilization of Egypt was not civil.
Slaves in Egypt had no rights, freedom, or opportunity. Slaves in Egypt were not treated respectfully and they werent treated like normal human beings. Slaves also were not allowed to quit or take a day off or else there would be consequences. A slave has no opportunities such as marriage, family, and education. These were all ruled out because it would get in the way of work. Slaves had no control over their personal lifes. Most of them were treated like robots. They would wake up at dawn, work, then go to sleep at dawn. In civilized civilizations all people would have the opportunity to start a family, marry, and have their own personal lives and opinions.
In civilized civilizations slaves would not exist. In civilized civilizations everybody would be respected, treated equally, and it would be peaceful. A good civilization is a highly developed society. Civilizations are also
