End of Project Report
This is the Project Manager’s report to the Project Board on how well the project has performed against its Project Initiation Document, including the original planned cost, schedule and tolerances, and final version of the Project Plan. There was one main objectives for the project for which eight specific work packages can be identified. This objective was:
To devise a detailed implementation plan to use XML programming language so that Riordan can track orders and shipments of raw materials and finished products throughout its supply chain.
Objective (i) was addressed by first gathering information on the current supply chain management process from the two local companies which acted as partners to the Riordan Office in this project. These were Bickford Organic Juices and Brooks Chemical Supply. Then, having identified the key dates, the inventory process data for those periods were extracted from the Riordan Office’s archive and were analyzed for a, return period and other parameters.
Performance against planned target time and cost.
The original planned project timescale was March 2008 to May 2009. However, as a result of delays in identifying and extracting data, the planning phase was not completed until early June 2008. The analysis/requirements phase started on schedule and, in light of slippage in the planning phase, time was then allowed to optimize the analysis phase in response to feedback. The final report was delivered in early June 2008. It was then sent for peer review which resulted in the final version of the report being published on 24 July 2008. Copies were sent to the clients and to project board members. This delay had little or no impact overall, the project recommendations having been agreed well before the initial agreed end date. The project budget was $763,650 drawn down from Riordan Treasury’s Department. Project expenditure has remained exactly on budget.
Approved Project Changes
A potential enhancement to the project was to add two additional databases to Riordan’s network which were being developed at the Joint Operations Center .
Effects on Original Project Plan
The aim was to investigate how the additional databases impacted on our potential to increase productivity and capture data. This work was to be done in parallel with the main project work outlined above and did not fall on the critical path, nor was
