My Hopes and Expectations for English Class
My hopes and expectations for English class this school year.My second year at Silkeborg Gymnasium has begun, and a new year with English classes has also begun, and what are my hopes and expectations for this whole new year? First and foremost, I hope to expand my vocabulary even more than I did last year. To achieve that, I hope and expect that the difficulty of our English classes increases. I also expect that the difficulty of our homework increases, but I do not hope that it is going to be more time consuming, because that can sometimes be very discouraging. I understand it will be hard to find I a good balance between time and difficulty, but I’m sure we can work something out. I expect to get more involved in English classes, and I hope we can find a way to involve us students in a more fun and active way, that of course is not to nerve-wracking and uncomfortable. And when that is said, I also expect that we as a class, will become more comfortable talking English in each other’s presence and to each other. Last year, my favorite thing we did in English class was to talk about short films and movies, I would like if we somehow could do that again. Maybe do some reviews and resumes of our own favorite movies, and I don’t think that I’m the only one who would enjoy that. But I think the most important thing for me personally, is to improve my English writing. If I should say so myself, that is my weakest quality, and I would very much like to improve that. I hope we can find a way to make grammar and writing lessons less heavy and boring, it is probably hard, but I doubt that it is impossible. I really enjoyed making the 5-paragraph essays, and I think the 5-paragraph essay formula is also very fun and intriguing to work with. I also love the topics that you come up with, I think it is a good way to include a bit of humor in our assignments. Therefore, I hope and would love to see these essay assignments again this year, maybe with a little twist here and there, or maybe more difficult topics and criteria’s.
