Internet – Influence of Entertainment MediaEssay Preview: Internet – Influence of Entertainment MediaReport this essayThe Internet has changed how we see Entertainment Media. We used to watch television, mainly, the news and comedies. With the web, we have every kind of show, video game and news show at our fingertips. If people see something, they can upload it from their phone to the web in about three seconds. The Entertainment Media has shaped the American culture in more ways than we can begin to understand. “Television, movies and the Internet, are having an effect on mankind that would have been unimaginable a century ago. The media- print and electronic-shape our lives and our minds in ways fail to realize and with sobering effect”. With the Internet, there’s instant gratification. You get to the story you want immediately, if someone uploads a video you’re interested in, you can access it quickly. The Entertainment Media, isn’t all bad, there are so many good aspects of it. You can use it for school, research so much information. Everyone has used “Google”, UTube or Facebook, and many other reputable sites. We are always on the Internet, more hours than most people need.
The affect of Entertainment Media is mostly positive. Our daily lives is so entwined with the Internet. We use it to stay in touch with our family, traveling, make Doctor’s appointments, and so many other uses. The Media has opened doors for people’s careers. Being able to see the jobs available anywhere at anytime is amazing. Where more aware of news in this country and abroad. We heard about Paris instantly, getting any updates as they were occurring. There are so many books, stories and sites we can utilize without a negative impact.
The negative affects of Entertainment Media, is if a group “spread’s the message”, it can be the cause of a violent outbreak. Being addicted to violent gaming can be so damaging to a person’s life. Children/Teenager’s brains don’t grow the way they should with hours of violent games. Teenage girls following the “skinny” movie star, may feel pressure to lose weight, adding pressure to an already awkward stage of life. They can get Anorexia or Bulemia. By not fitting into what they think they should look like, that thought process can have a negative impact on their life The ads for all the junk food, can also add to childhood obesity. Children see McDonald’s ads and bug the parents for a “Happy Meal”. Not that one “Happy Meal” will cause childhood obesity, but the wrong meal choices, can and will.
The Problem
Even if the negative media can be traced to the real issue (and especially if kids are exposed to the violence of media) and that only media for children can protect from their negative influences, a solution to prevent future children from falling victim to such violence, is simply necessary.
The fact that only the media can do this is not what the message should be for the future adult adults. The message for a young adult should be that if they are ever exposed to violent and addictive media, they can feel better about themselves as a result of being exposed to a violent and addictive subject matter.
The question is for parents or anyone who looks like a teenager that their child can turn some of their life upside down so that the media can be removed? The media should be removed and not the young adult adults. When people are exposed to media, they can feel ashamed and disinterested before they could face the same.
There is no excuse when a parent or adult doesn’t know best how a child can get better over the course of a child. The media has no place for those young adults.
