Thus the entry of big time well organized international syndicates.Big demand as consumers are attracted to the cheap bargain of pirate CDs and VCDs.Lack of government act to stop piracy. Law men are hesitant to confiscate pirate CDs by themselves, because of their lack of expertise in knowing what is fake and what is not.OpportunitiesNew laws must be enacted to increase penalties and put more teeth to enforcement.House Bill 11855 was proposed. This act sought to curtail entertainment media piracy in Ph. Penalization of mall owners if their tenants sells fake CDs.ThreatsAdvancement in technology that can download music and the use of USB devices.Availability of software that can play music in cellphones and small media devicesInternet and social media upsurge in followers and users.Easy transfer of music using wireless connections like Bluetooth, Wifi. Large storage devices like HDisk, USB than CDs.Recommendations:Government, with its resources and law enforcement capabilities, must step in to forestall the further deterioration of the industry.Special prosecutors and judges must be well versed in the copyright law.Cases filed must be expeditiously tried within a short period of time.All government agencies tasked to protect IP must have well-coordinated action plan.
