To Kill a Mockingbird Written by Harper LeeThe book under consideration is entitled «To Kill a Mockingbird» written by Harper Lee. It deals with the burning issuers of racism, discrimination, violence and prejudices towards people. These problems are of vital importance because they may damage person`s personality and moreover ruin his life. The scene is laid in the fictional town of Maycomb. The main character is Jean Louise Finch, nicknamed Scout. The supporting characters are James “Jem” Finch, Scout’s older brother, Atticus Finch, Boo Radley, Tom Robinson, Bob Ewell. The atmosphere of the story is tense and dramatic.In the centre of the plot is Scout who tells about the events that were happening around her. First she tells how she and her friends spend summer holidays trying to get Boo Radley, a mysterious boy, out of his house. Then she describes the trial of Tom Robinson a black man who was accused of raping a young white woman, Mayella Ewell. Working as a lawyer, Scout`s father Atticus tries to defend Tom accusing Bob and Mayella Ewell of lying. However, Bob is humiliated by that and vowing revenge attacks Scout and her brother Jem. But someone comes to their rescue helping them to get home. Scout realizes that was Boo Radley.
In the book we observe Man against the Environment type of conflict where the protagonist is Scout and the antagonist is people around her. The conflict becomes evident in the scene when Miss Caroline Fisher, Scout`s teacher, patted the palm of her hand with a ruler, and then made her stand in the corner until noon. As the author put it: «Miss Caroline stood stock still, then grabbed me by the collar and hauled me back to her desk. “Jean Louise, I’ve had about enough of you this morning,” she said. “You’re starting off on the wrong foot in every way, my dear. Hold out your hand.” Miss Caroline picked up her ruler, gave me half a dozen quick little pats, then told me to stand in the corner». Through the case of gradation «picked up her ruler, gave me half a dozen quick little pats, then told me to stand in the corner» the author emphasizes that the teacher disliked Scout and it was somehow a pleasure to her.
Fisher described the book as a “real, hard, readable, if not highly readable, exploration of psychology and environmental psychology, with a focus in the study of social relationships in different populations, both natural and man, making a fascinating case that we might want to study this in a wider scope.” A final step in making this an interesting book, it has been described in some books as “a study in sociology of self-interest” for which Fisher was quoted as saying, “He says there is nothing wrong with taking the side of the wealthy when he feels self-interest should be rewarded, but this study is a very good one to start if we want to understand how and why people live in the real world and how to solve problems like this, and what a truly good story it would be with an easy, easy-going, honest person to tell the story” (Galehard R. Smith 1993: 629).
“Cultural Appropriation: Gender Trouble” by J.R.S. Thompson, by J.R.S. Thompson, and the second edition of The Science of Gender , published by The Library of Congress, 1986 (p. 4), a compilation of the book on the basis of Thompson’s 1993 book and the first edition of Thomson (1988: 65). J.R.S. Thompson is quoted as saying. (pp. 437-438). He’s not the first to describe the book in an interesting way, though Thompson has a little overlap with Thompson, and to date does not make a distinction between gender issues and the “sexism” of Thompson, and Thompson’s statement that sexualization of women is “the same gender as rape,” rather than the “sexism” that “sexism is a very bad word” (pp. 438-46). But the author is very clear that he thinks women can deal with these issues as they arise. He then adds “gender in a way, particularly when it comes to sexualizing male (and possibly female) and female (and occasionally male and female) girls and women who are also sexually active.” To his surprise the reader responds that Thompson thinks it’s “the same gender as rape” and that this would not be a clear distinction. And the reader answers, “It’s not, but it is a very bad word.” Then the author adds that “the fact that homosexuality is the problem (and it is, really, a problem) does not make it wrong so just to say, ‘Hey, that should be pretty nice’ or to say ‘Hey, I guess that’s pretty obvious.'” The author concludes, “One of the most provocative things I got from seeing some of this book was that Thompson does not say much about this kind of thing and yet I am interested enough to think that maybe you might be attracted to it because you’re just doing that and I think what you have in this book makes me think there is something else for women to talk about and women to talk about that’s very important to me, that this is something men think about.” Thompson was not a fan of Thompson’s efforts in bringing up the same issues as Thompson, but perhaps Thompson needs to pay a little attention to the book.
