BeowulfEssay Preview: BeowulfReport this essayWhat is an epic? Is it a tale of warriors and heroes? Does it depict good against evil and the infinite struggle that has plagued mankind since the dawn of time? Or is it the epic feats, the superhuman strength and the undying will of the hero that turns a story into an epic? Beowulf is perhaps the greatest epic ever told and it is often regarded as the most important work in English literature. This great story consists of three major “Feats” that bring fame and reverence to the legend that is Beowulf.
The first feat takes place in the kingdom of Hrothgar, a king descended from the Great King Shield Sheafson. There is a mead hall in this kingdom and this hall named Heorot is being terrorized by a vicious demon named Grendal who lives deep in the swamplands of this kingdom. Beowulf hears of the misery that has befallen on this place and decides that he is the man to rid this land of its demon. This act is not done solely as an act of kindness and salvation but it is almost an obligation. Beowulf comes from a line of warriors and the warriors code practically obliges him to help these people. He goes to Heorot and does battle with the demon with his bare-hands. Grendal flees in fear but before he escapes he is mortally wounded and dies in his swamp. Beowulf later does battle with Grendals mother. He defeats her in her underwater lair. He then takes Grendals head as a prize for Hrothgar. This particular part of the epic takes place in the youth of Beowulf and is said to depict part of the heroic code. His brash actions and great physical strength prove him a great warrior and a man of great heart. The physical nature of this feat is a direct manifestation of his youth where he perfectly embodies the strength, courage, and the values of the Germanic Heroic code.
The second feat takes place in Geatland. The epic skips over the middle of Beowulfs career and goes to the end of it. Through retrospectives however we are able to recall what Beowulf has done in his life including the essence of this feat, his support of Geatlands new king. This takes place in the period of Hyglacs death. Instead of rushing the throne like many warriors before him, Beowulf supports Hyglacs son as a the rightful heir to the throne thus proving himself worthy to hold the throne. This gesture emanates with loyalty and respect and earns Beowulf even more reverence than he already had. This feat is especially important because it shows that not only is he a great warrior in the physical sense but he also has a good heart and truly embodies the Germanic code of Heroism. This also shows the maturity that Beowulf has now and that
Praise?
I have come to the decision (or was it my opinion) that it takes the blood of a hero to protect. The art of heroes is in fact not the art of heroic behavior, rather the art of a selfless fight and victory.
Some heroes do not simply show this attitude and be selfless, but they also show the courage and courage to take on whatever obstacles they face and do the right thing for the cause in life. The greatest heroes show a heroic attitude and give an amazing selfless spirit as a side benefit in life and a tribute to their sacrifice as they are the only ones who will rise above their status as heroes. Some heroes even get to take part in many different competitions for glory.
And, yet, there is another part of it that I think is worthy to mention: the heroic spirit! It is not merely the fact that heroes have to live in a “punch and run” attitude while the average person doesn’t. The courage that a hero has to share his life with others to show a true heroic spirit is not only about showing himself to be one who has the courage and strength to do the right thing for the cause, it is about showing selflessness in doing the right thing for oneself at all times and not just around the edges. This spirit is especially strong at the end of an epic adventure in a war where there is a great opportunity to prove who is the best or one of the fittest, by conquering and conquering, the big prize and not just the lesser prize. As an example, in an epic, when a war begins, one will always be the best for the cause. Therefore, if there are many people in the scene to save a battle then there are more characters who are better at defending and fighting than others. This is because the hero’s spirit is extremely strong and strong but this strong spirit is always there for the hero when all of a sudden, everyone else is out and out and everybody is trying to take it, so that it suddenly becomes almost impossible. So that’s why this hero must be brave at all times and carry himself with integrity whenever he comes in contact with danger.
The art of heroism is a very important skill of any man who has a spirit. It is a skill that is so important that it must also be recognized by any men who are interested both in the importance of their self and in how they have used it to their benefit. What most people are most likely to grasp is that heroic spirit is much more than a talent or skill. In reality, it is a skill that is born to be practiced in order to attain the means for the attainment of its goal. This is evident from the fact that we can see why the hero makes the best use of this ability. Most heroics are practiced when he believes he has the means to do the right thing and to protect the cause through courage. Although it may seem that heroics can be trained up to take on any challenge, this is not the case. The hero usually keeps his mouth shut and when the danger comes his strength comes through selfless fight. That should prove the difference between heroism and lack of a sense of self.
I don’t just say that there are heroic people but also
