Overview:
Erik Peterson is a motivated and up and coming “star” in the cellular industry. He is young, energetic, experienced and educated. After landing, what appeared to be, an excellent position at CelluComm he felt that he was very fortunate and that it was the start of an excellent future. However, the problems were apparent from day one when he found out that the person he thought he was going to report to, and was part of the reason for taking the position, was not going to be his supervisor. Under normal circumstances this wouldnt have been detrimental to his outlook on his new career, but in this case it was only the beginning of seemingly endless problems.
Issue # 1:
Before Erik can even begin to analyze and find solutions to the many problems GMCT was facing in order to begin the customer service portion, he has to deal with the apparent lack of communication that is most likely the foundation for all of the companys problems. When Erik accepted the position he was under the assumption that he was going to be reporting to Jenkins. After starting, he found out that he was assigned to Hardy which was a great disappointment and not the best way to start his new career. Following this personal disappointment he found out that Hardy was inexperienced and therefore could not offer any guidance. The chief engineer, new director of marketing and other personnel that he was to work with all lacked sufficient experience, patience and/or attitudes to be in the higher positions that they held. This created great conflict among all the staff in that they were not working as a team, but rather individuals (and still not achieving the ultimate goal of the new “turn-on” date).
