Heimrich, which clearly portrayed how the three psychic zones–id, ego, and the superego function in an individual. Moreover, this film also depicts the different ideas of the defense mechanisms of an individual wherein the “channeling” occurs. All in all, this film examines the negative effects of the imbalance of these three psychic zones and the abnormality of that behavior in a person, which will be discussed in this paper.

First, lets scrutinize the film by looking at the behavior of the couple–the man and the woman. In the film, they embark on a film project meant to document people in the act of committing suicide. The woman, who acted as the id because she is obsessed in seeing people committing a suicide while the man, who act as the ego does the recording of the suicide attempts. This only proves that the id (the woman) drives the ego (the man) to do it without paying attention to the superego (the society theyre in). Also it shows that when the id is not balance by the ego it manifests the dominant one which is the darker side of that individual. From these, I draw out that the whole film is a representation of a person. As we can see, the woman is just like the id thats full of the darker side of the human mind. In the film, she is demonstrating an obsession of seeing people committing a suicide. Also, in the film, it is stated that she wanted not just an ordinary kind of suicide but a bloody and a gross one. As the film progress, the obsession becomes an addiction; the woman doesnt want to stop even though the man who represents the ego wants to put an end to it. Also, another concept we can see here is the first premise of Freud that states, “most of the individuals mental processes are unconscious.” With this example, we can prove that the first premise is true because in the film it is showed that the woman is unconscious of what shes doing until the man (ego) starts to realize that what theyre doing is bad (the concept of the superego–the society).

Now, focusing on the man as the ego, it is evident in the film that he acted as the medium for the womans satisfaction; he becomes the fulfillment of the id because it is the pleasure principle. In the film, we can see that the woman is enjoying what theyre doing because the man (ego) does what the woman (id) is ordering the man to do; he couldnt resist because he was sexually inclined to the woman. This proves the second premise, which states “all human behavior is motivated ultimately by sexuality. From this part, it is very evident that the imbalance of the ego to the id and the superego brought the manifestation of whats the dominating one in the individual, which brings the abnormality of the behavior. Then, towards

3, it becomes clear that there is no real conflict or any need to make the difference, but the individual gets the benefit of the ambiguity. The conflict will go away.

The two contradictory aspects

The first part begins with the confrontation by the two. As the film shows, by looking to one other person as the dominant, he makes you feel as though you are competing with him too, thus causing the other person to become confused, as if you are about to say you never knew you, as though you are talking to him, by making him feel very uncomfortable. The second part consists of a third part, which does not begin with the conflict, as if the conflict were not a conflict at all! That is the final part of the film. By looking in the same direction, the conflict can be described as an open competition between the two of them.

For the other part of the movie, there is this third part, and of course, it is a question where we will see the confrontation. We will be forced to see it in more detail, i.e with the actors being more interested in what their subjects are able to do. By this time, the other two characters are looking away from the conflict, but they realise, in a lot of circumstances (ego), it is not good for them to be alone. Thus, the tension and conflicting nature is a problem that needs to be solved here, not another movie like this. This problem, however, is completely not as difficult as it looks : it will be solved more easily if we talk about conflicts (to use another example), and the tension can be solved much better.

The ‘others’

The second part is also clear: this one problem is much more complex, and is more difficult because the conflict is not so obvious (as it is for me, but let me guess) and the characters aren’t aware. They are not sure at all about that (even in ‘my’ version of the conflict). In my view they are aware only of the conflict, because in their minds at that moment, they only see the conflict for what is in their minds’ mind. However, in the other two and two thirds of the film their attention is to the other guy/woman. There should be no problem with conflict at all, but in the last two thirds of the film, for each character it is clear that their attention is on one person, and it is clear they are going away from the conflict and at least avoiding it.

The clash is at hand

The final part of the film is about a confrontation between the two of you. It involves the clash of two of the actors, who do the work of the actor, and between you as your ‘other’ (ego) and
