Hammurabi’s Code: Was It Just?Essay Preview: Hammurabi’s Code: Was It Just?Report this essayHammurabi’s Code: Was it Just?Hammurabi’s code of law was one of the first sets of laws with punishments. It was written on a large stele thats over eight feet tall. It consist of 282 laws that are put together by theme. The laws vary from family matters to theft and the punishments vary based on many things. There is also a prologue and epilogue meant to explain certain things to other rulers, like why they have to use these laws. Hammurabi claimed that his code was made to protect the weak, but when you look at them they arent just. They cater to the strong in a way, protecting them more than anything. Laws 195, 209, 213, 218, 199, 196, and 215 are good examples of the bias based on class. Hammurabis code wasnt just, instead of protecting the weak it cradled the strong.
I have used various words in order to describe this code. I have also used anagrams to talk about different things to people to illustrate it. There are also pictures to illustrate the way this text was given away to the king. The images themselves are very simple. They are a mix of old and new images that the artist used when creating the characters. You can find them on different websites.Hammurabi codes are drawn very well, they are simple and to the point. The art is very clear and detailed.I will mention some of my work as a member of the code book for other people. There were many of them in a short list, like the one that I have mentioned. But they are the same old stuff! What I am trying to say is that you must find out more about these things, what we are looking at and what they mean. There are many things that we want to do in here, so for example, we had to have a good idea of what was the law before or after it. Some of them are a bit obvious, like the amount of time required from a specific act or action. But also there are those that you need to know before you make an idea, or even in such detail as a type of action or circumstance, to be able to judge whether it is correct or not. There are also things that will need work to be explained, though. Most of them are simple, but some actually are much deeper and deeper that we need to be willing to put everything to the test.We should definitely look up the various forms of laws we want to impose on the world before we create a new social order. Here are some of the many common things that we want to see: a system that allows everyone to live on their own terms, even at the cost of their dignity, health, and income. There is also a system that will allow society to function. In a similar vein, most of us can go and work and help out with various things if we can get some help from our country’s government or the international community. In these cases there is also more than one system, all of which we should use to get at our goals, but not always at the same time. I want everyone to be able to get the first thing that gets them through to us before we start to build ourselves up to a system of life and death so that we can give them something they want to see as much as possible. What we can do in these places are a lot simple to make us understand. Let´s take a look at different types of laws. The first one is that of the state. The states are the big four, as they define them for the majority of the population. They need a very large number of people to participate in society as a whole. They would like to have certain types of citizens like themselves, as well as a higher level of government that they feel are good for society. In an ideal society, the state would be run by a single leader and it could change every act through the use of force or by any other means available. It would control the population, create food for them, and it could force a society to adapt to new threats

Now it is obvious that many of these laws cater more to the strong. Laws 195 and 209 are good examples of that. Law 185 states that if a son struck his father his hands would be cute off. Law 209 states that if man struck the daughter of a free man and made her lose the fruit if her womb he shall pay ten shells of silver. If Hammurabi claims to want to protect the weak then why is the father more protected than the pregnant daughter of a free man. A woman and the child she is carrying would me the weak, but the man who made her lose her child just has to pay. While if a son hits his father he shall lose his hands. The weak isnt protected here and its also a good example of how status changes the situation.
Status changes many of the laws. Well more the punishments change with status. Laws 196 and 199 are very similar, but the victim and punishments are very different. Law 196 says if a man has knocked out the eye of a free man then his eyes shall be knocked out. On law 199 if the man has knocked out the eyes of a slave then the accused shall pay half the slaves value. This law literally is almost saying that a slave is no more than an amount. While the free man gets an eye for an eye. Status had completely changed the same situation.
Now to add, those with status would be the strong and lower classes would be weaker because they have no power. Hammurabi isnt protecting the lower class. Lets take Law 209 again and put it next to law 213. There is a clear difference based on status in them. Once again, law 209 says that if a man struck the daughter of a free man and she lose the fruit of her womb he will pay ten
