Ethical relativism is defined as a theory of morality that is related to the customs of one’s culture. Depending on the culture and the society makes the action either right or wrong. The action may be morally correct in one society but wrong in another. It is said that universal ethical norms and regulations are rejected ethical relativism. The objective ethical principle is also rejected by the reality of ethical relativism. The biggest problem among cultures is that the question of morality is not established also that moral norms have not been developed. The disagreements among cultures are caused because the disagreements of facts. So in order to solve the problem regulations of the real important facts must be made. The difference in values and criticism are also a cause of disagreements among cultures. The disagreements are fundamental moral disagreements and to fix the problem is really impossible.
The substance of the culture corresponds to the cultural ethical relativism. There are broken down definitions for this term which are right, wrong, good, bad, and virtuous. These terms correspond with society and the things that they approve. Agreeing to the social morality individual moral principles are developed. To sum it all up the norms and law should be followed by the people in each individual society. A society having its own morality makes it possible for them to judge and criticize other cultures.
Ethical universalism is known to be the complete opposite of ethical relativism. Ethical universalism believes the reality of the essential moral principles that are accurate everywhere and are appropriate for all people in related circumstances. It is known that the codes are very well concealed and it won’t be easy to uncover them, and there are always arguments about the codes. There are other things such as moral errors and blunders that also occur, these code are not hard to uncover at all.
Ethical relativism rejects the important points of universalism. In the modern world the lack of universal morality is known to be probative conformation. In the question of morality the societies are no able to find any authority. Cultural influences play a big part in the way morality is formed, culture is something that cannot be made universal or ordinary. It that was the case fundamental disagreements would be solved but that’s not the case so they would be never solved.
In order for universalism to be able to criticize and to keep the theoretical base safe they come up with their own arguments. To show that the arguments of their rivals to be false alongside universalism, it is known for most if not all societies to disagree about morality. Also most time they disagree about other things such as historical, geographical, biological facts. Does this mean that there is no correct answer to the question, no it doesn’t mean that but that’s the same way it works with morality. The people who represent
