I am glad to see so many people united under one cause but I feel that many more of you still remain unconvinced. Women are in desperate need of equality, we are being abused civilly and we have no control over it. A few dire things that women MUST have are: the right to vote, equal pay, and right to an abortion without prior male consent.

As long as man existed, women have been thought as the weaker sex. Many stereotypes have plagued women, such as the need to be pretty, apathetic, and submissive. This may otherwise be stated as being a slave to man. In my, and many other womens opinions, this is outrageous. Doesnt it state, very clearly in the constitution, that everyone is created equal? Why should this document not apply to women? Ill tell you why, its because man wants women to remain their playthings now and for the rest of our time. Are you going to stand for this, women?

The first stab at womens rights was made in 1848 with the first womens conference. The one problem is that, in the 60s, more than 100 years later, women still do not possess this right. When women started the fight for voting freedom, they did not realize the huge amount of work to try to allow women the right to vote. If you are thinking that, after all this time fighting, we should get out rights back, then you are not alone. Many women are tired of their boring housewife roles, and hunger for something more. Those women who do not fully embrace their lives may disagree with my point. For example Philys Shaefer is a woman that wishes women no more rights than common livestock. Only someone who has grown up being heavily medicated should think that about women.

The Second Womens Conference was held in 1864, in an attempt to have more open public forums. They did not recognize and did not create an awareness of gender.

The third Womens Women Conference was held in 1886, in this same city.

The fourth Womens Conference, held in 1889 in this same city.

The fifth Womens Convention. In 1888, women held a Womens Convention in the US. This was the first time in history there was a womens convention. Women in any one city were responsible for organizing Womens and creating awareness and a political movement, so this is only the first Womens Convention. In 1994, a few American states, including North Carolina, started womens conferences. Women have been able to organize and have strong political and social movements and have developed strong women’s organizations and organizations to win national and state legislation on womens issues such as equal pay.

The sixth Womens Congress. Women held a Womens Congress in 1999, at which the following was held:

Women, especially in rural areas, were expected to participate in the Womens Day Parade. They were also to take part in what women called a “festival of empowerment” to make money out of changing an existing gender role. In 2006, the Washington State Legislature passed legislation that would increase the Women’s Leadership and Building Program from one year to seven year. Women had long held that their primary right or interest was equal. This bill was signed into law at the end of January 2008 and went into effect Dec 2, 2008.
