Theoretical Method To Calculate Bending Moment At The Cut
To determine an expression for Bending Moment at the cut of the beam is calculated using the following diagram.
RA-Rolling Pivot
RB-Rolling Pivot
W-Weight of the Loading
a-Distance between the left hand side pivot and the cut of the beam
l-Distance between both the pivot
The theoretical moment at the cut will be found using the following Equation.
Bending Moment at the Cut=Wa(l-a)/l
Wa- Weight of the loading in Newtons (N)
l-440mm
a-300mm
When the mass of the load is 100g,
BM at the cut=0.98((0.44-0.30)/0.44)Nm=0.3118 Nm
When the mass of the load is 200g,
BM at the cut=1.96((0.44-0.30)/0.44)=0.6236 Nm
When the mass of the load is 300g,
BM at the cut=2.94((0.44-0.30)/0.44)=0.9355 Nm
When the mass of the load is 400g,
BM at the cut=3.92((0.44-0.30)/0.44)=1.2473 Nm
When the mass of the load is 500g,
BM at the cut=4.90((0.44-0.30)/0.44)=1.5591 Nm
Experimental Method to calculate Bending Moment at the Cut
The experimental Moment at the cut will be found using the following Expression,
BM at the Cut=Displayed Foce×0.125 Nm
When the mass of the load is 100g,
BM at the cut=0.60×0.125 Nm=0.075Nm
When the mass of the load is 200g,
BM at the cut=1.50×0.125 Nm=0.1875 Nm
