The 1st Amendment says, everybody has the right to the freedom of speech. That’s why I believe explicit lyrics should be protected as free speech by the first amendment because it’s just people saying what’s on there minds. As you are going to see this affects everyone. Explicit lyrics should be covered by the first amendment and that explicit lyrics are not just used by hip hop and rap artist. Rappers and other artists are not saying explicit lyrics just to hear themselves talk but it’s a meaning behind what most rappers have to say.
When thinking about the first amendment many feel they have the right to say anything that they want to say. This is true according to the first amendment but some people think that explicit lyrics should not be covered by the first amendment. They must realize that people use explicit lyrics to express there thoughts and ideas. If they had their freedom of speech taken away from them then people will feel that they can’t say what they feel. How would people feel if they couldn’t have the chance say what was on there mind? Or voicing there opinion was prohibited? Just like the people who use explicit lyrics will feel if it wasn’t covered by the first amendment.
When a lot of people think about explicit lyrics the first thing that comes to mind is hip hop, rap and rock music. Most rappers come from poor backgrounds and have seen a lot of stuff and the only way for them to get it off there chest is through music. They use explicit lyrics because to them that’s the only way they feel that they can tell us what all they had to go through. The way they feel people would want to hear what they have to say. I know that some rappers over do it with the lyrics but don’t label all artist that way. Rockers just say what’s on their minds and they have the right to do that.
