Internal and External Factors
The four functions of management are planning, organizing, leading, and controlling. Planning outlines a specific goal for the company to complete. Organizing sets the company up on how the goal will be completed. Leading is done by a manager that motivates the employees to complete the goal. Controlling is done by a manager to review the progress and make any changes to complete the goal. There are internal and external factors that affect the four functions of management. A company that faces internal and external factors is United Postal Service (UPS). UPS is a worldwide shipping company that uses the four functions to develop and grow the company. Some factors that impact the development and growth are globalization, ethics, technology, innovation, and diversity.

The global network that UPS has established has helped the company become very knowledgeable in a very complex trade industry. They offer their expertise to other small businesses who wish to expand their business globally.
There is a trust relationship that UPS builds its integrity with its customers and it has worked hard to keep that trust. “UPS’s reputation for ethical behavior has enabled us to attract and retain the best people and loyal customers; it has opened doors in new and emerging global markets and allowed us to transform our business to meet changing customer needs,” (UPS, 2011, p.1). They comply with all legal responsibilities and do their utmost to deliver what they promise. On their company website they offer information to all existing and new customers and assist them with anything they may need. By providing the right answers they help promote their ethical standards and ensure their long lasting business trust with customers. Their employees are also subject to keeping the ethical
