Facebook Case1.0 IntroductionIn this 21st century, the advancement of technology has emerged tremendously. Investment in technology and innovation is frequently seen as a key to the success of an enterprise (Worthington 2006, p.8). Companies see the potential of technological breakthroughs in their businesses by using the internet which has developed over the years. Internet has brought a transformation in the way how information travels. It changes the lifestyle of people from all walks of life. Internet is commonly used to share information and communicate. According to the founding father of the internet, Tim Berners-Lee (2009), ‘the web does not just connect machines, it connects people’. Millions of people around the world use social networking sites to interact with each other despite having different customs and cultures. The growing popularity of social websites such as Facebook demonstrates how the internet is changing. Almost all of the people who connect to the internet have a Facebook account. With the development of Facebook growing rapidly, many companies have shifted their focus and attention from company websites to Facebook which has a tremendous impact on Internet users.
Facebook, the mere mention of it sounds significantly familiar to millions of people. It is next to impossible to not know about Facebook in today’s world. Moreover, it seems like most of the people, if not all, could not live without it. So, what exactly is Facebook? As we all know, Facebook is one of the largest websites in the world. This social networking site which has over 600 million users worldwide was co-founded by Mark Zuckerberg, a sophomore from Harvard University on February 4, 2004 (Wikipedia, 2011). Facebook was initially available within the campus itself, but later expanded and became available across the nation. Due to the phenomenal growth of Facebook over the years, Mark Zuckerberg has become the youngest billionaire in
the world. Today, he holds the most wealth, with a fortune of over $10 trillion. According to LinkedIn, Mark Zuckerberg is at the top. The top 100 richest people in the world. There are nearly 3,600 of such billionaires, with total wealth of over $1.8 trillion. The Top 20 largest corporations in the world with a total capital of over $16 trillion. With the financial stability required to avoid conflicts of interest, people make up about half of the world’s billionaires as a proportion of the population. For some time now, the average citizen has been paying a fraction of their income towards their own account, for which they receive almost no tax in our country (Wikipedia, 2012). For example, if you earn $100, you will pay a fraction of your income towards the account. This is because the IRS is responsible for this account, as a tax in your nation is the tax levied on all individuals.
1) Anonymity and Anonymous Sites. Facebook and Twitter are the two greatest platforms, as they are both anonymous. However, the most public (for now) information about Facebook on Twitter is not available online. The biggest sites on Facebook is the “Social Network” (now the official social network). People can access the main page and browse Facebook without being tracked or contacted by the FBI, just like you could find it on the social network to join a “group”. However, the real purpose of Facebook and Twitter is to provide information to social networking sites, which enables them to act on the web so that they can interact online in real time.
2) The “Secret” section in the Facebook page is a “private” page to which nobody can access anything except their own information. All other Facebook content is hosted by other people. All that’s left by you is information about you. “Access” is the name of what you need for any type of personal or professional purpose. The site gives out the first and only URL for your name in your social networking site. Every time you are visited the page redirects you to a website which only asks you to fill in your details. Since most webpages will require visitors to enter their full name (which is not part of their identity), the only way they can access the website is to click on the “Get Access” link.
3) These pages are free and open at any time. Users are free to enter their account information and send them to their friends on the right side of the page, or the page itself. The website would only accept a user of your username or email. Users can also enter their names and email addresses, for example, using the username “Nathan” which would take you to it. Users can also select any number of social networking sites for personal and professional purposes while they are at Facebook. Facebook and Facebook ads are placed where people can use the information to buy gifts and for sales. For instance, you might see ads you had purchased on Facebook
