Undoubtedly, through every decade, more and more things seem to change and make due with the flips and flops of society. The saying, “The more things change, the more they stay the same” does not apply to every aspect of life, including family life. The knit of family is wide spread, sometimes loose or tight, but the activities of a family are generally the same in a set time era. Since 1965, there have been many additions and tweaks to society that in turn have an effect on the lives of every household. 2010 family life greatly varies from that in 1965; ranging from the kids’ activities to family encounters/communication to family work life.
Many activities that people engage in depend on money, and of course, in the 60’s, money was not at its highest abundance. In turn, the activities of families and kids were simpler than those engaged in now. If one wanted to find a kid in that time, their best bet would be at a local pond, swimming pool, or out and about somewhere outdoors. Inside the house was not a play area back in that time. When it came time for the whole family to do something together, it was between watching something on the few T.V. channels, playing a card game, or watching a movie at the local drive in. Now, the vastness of opportunities and choices for kid and family activities are overwhelming. Since the development of technology has advanced immensely, kids are inside playing various video games, on the newest Apple computer, or watching 1 of 1000 channels on TV. Families can do anything from going to the movie theater to watching a movie in their own home theater.
