Obesity is fast becoming uncontrollable in the society this past two decades because of peoples inability to control or maintain a healthy eating habit, it is a slow deadly disease caused by eating unhealthy meals and it can also be as a result of an imbalance between energy intake and energy expenditure. These can have effect on the mind, the family nutrition as well as diabetes and heart disease. Someone who is overweight is twice as likely to die prematurely as a normal-weight person.
As ascertained by, (Stanford hospital and clinics, 2009) Obesity has a far ranging negative effect on health. Each year US spend over 150 billion dollars treating it, and 300,000 death rates was recorded as a result. Obesity has grown rapidly in the past few decades due to people’s lack of good nutrition. Some work so much round the clock that they do not have enough time to stay at home and eat cooked foods; thereby they see fast food as a solution because it is easier, faster and even taste better than home cooked foods. They fail to consider the fact that they are not healthy and will not make a good nutritional meal. As a result they become obese after eating the junks for several years.
When foods with high calories are consumed without burning the calories out, they could also affect the body system by storing some starchy foods. As claimed by Jessica Martinez in; why do starchy foods lead to obesity “Carbohydrates are your body’s main and most dependable source of energy and you literally cannot function without them. However, like all foods, if you eat too many carbohydrates, your body will store the excess as fat.” Salt can also contribute to obesity if it is excessively stored in the body without proper exercise to maintain it.
