Prejudice of eHarmony
eHarmony is one of the most utilized online dating services to have ever been created. In February of 2007, Linda Carlson was denied while applying for a membership due to the fact that she is gay. This has angered people all over the nation because of the blatant discrimination.

Those in favor of the way eHarmony is set up could argue that this dating service is a system that will, if lucky, lead to marriage. It has been a heated debate whether or not gay marriage should be allowed. This mindset in a way makes sense since the “sight was founded by an evangelical Christian Dr. Neil Clark Warren” (Serjeant). To deny a person access to a program because of their sexuality is an outrage and has spurred a “class action lawsuit on behalf of gays and lesbians” (Serjeant). If this type of discrimination is allowed, how far has our nation evolved from the extreme racism of the civil rights era? From an early age we have been taught and coached to treat everyone as an equal, to be a good Christian. By refusing to give the same advantages to homosexuals that eHarmony gives to heterosexuals Dr. Neil Clark Warren is being a hypocrite to the very religion he worships. Although gay marriage is a touchy subject, homosexuals should not have to be singled out and denied access to a simple website.

eHarmony has refused to change their program even though their anti-gay policy is discriminatory under California law. Although eHarmony is not getting any taxpayer/government/public financing, they are still in violation of the California law and they should be prosecuted and/or forced to change their site. Dr. Clark admitted that “he does not know the dynamics of same-sex relationships but expects the principals to be different” (Serjeant). To deny homosexuals without taking the time to see how their relationships work and how they are still human beings regardless
