A file system is used for organizing data expected to be retained after a program terminates providing procedures to store, retrieve and update data, as well as manage the available space on the device which it contains. There are many file systems in Windows, for example, FAT, NTFS, and MVS. With the FAT (File Allocation Table) file system that is supported be all versions of Microsoft Windows, and was used in earlier operating systems like M-DOS. The older versions of FAT had file name lengths that were limited by a number of entries in the root directory and a restriction on size of the formatted disks. NTFS was introduced with the Windows NT operating system which allowed ACL- based permission control. MVS (Multiple Virtual Storage) was commonly used operating system on the IBM mainframe computers. This system is used to organize files that is similar to what directories do in other operating system. All of these file systems have one main goal and that is to organize files on the operating system to make sure the user can access them in an orderly fashion. What if there was no computer in the world what would we do and were would we be? I have always wondered what life was like when there was no computer or cell phones, life would be much harder then they are now as far as communication goes. Has anyone ever thought the same way I do because none of my friends thin the same way as I do. they tak the technology for granted an dont understand or comprehend many things that life can throw at them.
