Social Networking
Are you addicted to social networking sites? Some people will say yes and other people will say no to this question. Are social networking sites making us stupid? I have read two articles on this topic; one of the articles is praising this topic and the other one is chastising.
The first article I read was called teenagers and social networking. The article is agreeing that social networking is good for teenagers. It says in the article as they gain experience with living online, they begin to adjust their behavior, wresting with new communication skills, as they do in real world. Parents are wrong to worry that kids don’t care about privacy. In fact they spend hours tweaking Facebook settings or using quick delete sharing tools, such as snap chat, to minimize their traces or they post a photograph on Instagram, have a pleasant conversation with friends and then delete it so that no traces remains. I do not agree with this article; I mean I do to use Facebook but I am very careful with what I do on there because no matter what you do on there or what you post on their people will see it even after you deletes it. I also don’t agree with kids always tweaking their settings because you don’t know what kids are doing while they are on their Facebook page and you may have your profile on privacy but people can still see your photos that you put up. It says in the article that study found 15% of teens said someone had been mean or cruel to them online in the last 12 months. If you are a parent you don’t know what your child is doing unless you sign on to their page. So your child could be cause drama or even saying mean things to other people. I know when I was a teenager my mom was always logging on to my page and checking to see what I do on there. I believe still to this day she still does that.
The other article I read was called are social networking sites such as twitter and Facebook making us stupid. This article is chastising social networking
