Every teen grows through experiences that impact their lives. I t could be a car accident, the death of a family member or someone dear to them, or something simple such as starting high school. For me, it was my first date; being able to take a girl out, show her a good time, and get something to eat was a turning point in my life. This experience allowed me to grow mentally and in my maturity.
All of my life, there were things that I wouldn’t and honestly couldn’t understand. When I asked about them, I was told “ you’ll understand when your older and start dating”. This seemed to be a daily phrase from my older brothers. Hearing this enough made me think that dating was the answer to all of my problems. One day I figured I would go ahead and have start this dating I was always told about. Naturally I had my eye on a girl being a guy and a teen, so I decided to ask her out on a date; my first date.
I had to make sure that this date was absolutely flawless, down to the “T”. I thought long and had about what to do and where to eat however I soon realized that I was 13 and the places to go were limited. I finally settled on ice skating since it was something I was good at and then eat at wherever we decided to because all the restaurants were within walking distance. All in all, the date went near perfect, even down to the typical boy walks girl to the door and gives her a goodnight kiss. From that point on my brothers and friends had a newe found respect for me. It was almost unexplainable how quick the change occurred. I was told things I always wanted to know and was able to do more things (adult things).
Now that I look back on my first date I realize that it was a sign of me growing up. Until then I had never shown that I was getting more mature. Not only did people start treating me differently, but I started treating everything and everybody in a
