Shadow of a Doubt
The first supporting character in the movie that would be sorely missed if he wasnt in it would have to be Herbie Hawkins. Herbie is a good friend to Joseph Newton, who both has a fixation with murder. He may not be really important to the overall plot of the movie, but he brings a sense of humor to it. Herbie doesnt really have a connection with young Charlie or Uncle Charlie, but he is the one who brings up the topic of the other man thats accused of murder. Herbies humor was the main focus for me though. It brought a little light to the darkness of the film.
Another great supporting character that provided a lot to the film would be Detective Jack Graham. Obviously, Jack being a detective, he brings a lot of confusion to the movie. Nobody knew if he was the bad guy or the good guy. His investigation helps further plot and is significant to it. He is very connected to young Charlie due to being the love interest. I like Jack because he brings the suspense of who he is and his love with Charlie helps understand the characters a little more.
