Transactional Analysis
Transactional Analysis was a very good experience for us. This was the first workshop held during our course. The overall experience was very satisfying, got to know some amazing concepts and was able to draw different conclusions based on our previous experiences.
Sai was very patient, she was also very calm. The way she presented her T.A. knowledge, connected it to different fields, allowing every single individual in the room to relate the concepts and ideas of T.A. to their lives and streams, all of this was indeed very impressive.
The part where she discussed about the different games people play and also about how we can identify and understand these games, all of this was very helpful. Considering we were about to enter our internship just about after this workshop, having basic knowledge about the many games that people play was very helpful.
The one significant thing to note about this approach or the workshop in general was that it allowed us to understand our behaviors in a far better fashion. It was like being able to get a connection or rather connect the dots and get to know as to why we behave the way we do.
I remember vividly that when I started reading the book, Games People Play by Eric Berne, I wasnt able to grasp anything pertaining to T.A. mentioned in the initial stage of the book. Thanks to Sai, I was able to get clarity on the approach and the different ego states that she spoke about; it was possibly one of the best things of the workshop.
It is funny to note how people understand child ego, as ego of the child, whereas the adults also operate on that ego too. The three states is indeed very helpful, post the workshop I could see myself identifying the ego state I was operating from.
Moreover, it also gives way for improving and working more on the areas that need help. Considering adult ego state is safest and most adaptive of all, it is sad to know that it is equally difficult to be in that state all the time.
By knowing about such concepts makes you identify the areas where you need help. The minute I learnt about free child, I knew I was high on that and was glad when my team member rated me high on it. The conscious effort however comes along more towards the adult ego state.
Apart from this, the highlight of the workshop were the strokes and not just any strokes but Positive strokes. Definitely it was very exciting to both receive and give positive strokes to people.
With all this, the workshop was very well organized and amazing conducted by Sai.
