First and foremost communication is key in any kind of relationship, job setting, recreational activity or educational setting. I chose to talk about the importance of effective communication in the job role of a forensics examiner. Communication is key in this department because the receiving end of the examiners information obviously does not know how to go about obtaining some of the information you as the examiner are giving them. You cannot just simply say the person was murdered with an axe. Why was that person murdered with an axe? How do you know that was the cause of death? There would be so many rebuttal questions to an examiners statement if they just answered like that. This kind of position takes dedication, knowledge and a person willing to take the lead if need be. Forensic examiners do not just deal with police departments and detectives. These examiners go to court and testify to the evidence they collect. I hope any self respecting authority agency would not send just any Joe Schmo to court. I believe any job that gives you any kind of authority or gives you the responsibility of innocent or guilty, you should be competent to answer and respond, professionally and intellectually. To be a forensics examiner you need to go to school and become licensed or certified. Being a forensics examiner is a well- respected job and most people would think you would need to be able to communicate in order to be active in a job position like that. Miscommunication can lead to mistakes and possible mistrial of a case. Communication is not just key in getting the information of whom, what, and why, but it plays a big part in the chain of custody aspect too. You need to be very specific in where evidence came from, what it is and what you are going to do with it. One person oversees all evidence, it is logged and there are records of who checked evidence out, how long it was out and where you were when it was out. Any little oops will send everything you worked
