Liberal Democracy Vs Communism
The form of a liberal democracy is most likely to protect and uphold human rights. Liberal democracies opposed to radical governments protect the rights of the individual. Liberal democracies believe in liberty and equality for the people. A liberal democracy believes in basic human rights like the right to vote, the right to an education and the right to speak freely. This means they will more likely uphold and protect humans than other radical forms of governments like China or Zimbabwe.
China refuses to uphold human rights because it would threaten the control of communism. China has been silencing human rights activists like Liu Xiaobo for demanding human rights because they endanger the power of the communist party. In Zimbabwe Robert Mugabe has been terrorizing his own people to stay in power. The people call Mr. Mugabe’s time in office “chidudu” meaning “the fear.” Mr. Mugabe uses terror tactics like beating, raping, jailing and burning of houses against those who speak out against his regime. Mr. Mugabe does anything but protect and uphold rights in his country.
Countries like Pakistan and Saudi Arabia, give little rights to woman. Muslim woman must wear burkas; many women cannot travel without a man, and cannot get an education. On the other hand countries like the United Kingdom, Netherlands and France are very proactive with human rights. These kinds of countries allow freedom of the press, a vital right that signifies much freedom within a country. . . . . . . . .. . . . .
