Economies around the world are suffering in all aspects due to globalization. Globalization is the expansion of businesses around the world. Corporations expand their businesses to foreign countries in order to manufacture goods for cheap labor. Free trade is the absence of barriers to the free flow of goods and services between countries. The absence of barriers is important because it allows countries to trade freely amongst each other. Allowing free trade among countries in Africa damages the economy to an extent. It allows thousands of people to have jobs but also takes away those jobs from the workers where the companies are originally from. The World Bank is an international institution that provides loans to developing countries to help them move up in society. When a country is in debt the World Bank provides loans for the countries to create goods and sell them to other countries. The World Bank is a good asset to all countries who need some financial help to get out of poverty but is it good for everyone or just those with power? Africa is one of the poorest continent around the globe. Although it may be rich in culture, the African economy has a long way to go before it gets to be a rich and powerful continent. If women are not allowed to be part of the international institution that help manage the economy , then how are women workers supposed to get the help they need to get the jobs they deserve. By allowing women to be part of the IMF, these women will think of ways and provide ideas to help women workers all around the continent of Africa. Women may be left out of these opportunities because the government does not see women as people who may help them improve the economy. Women who are employed have poor working conditions.
Women workers are being paid low wages due to globalization. When industries reorganize their economies womens working condition are not enforced in order to attract foreign investors. The quote says:
Globalization has greatly increased the flow of goods between countries. Many countries have reorganized their economies in favor of export production. In some countries, especially in Asia, Export Processing Zones have been created to house production facilitiesWomens nimble fingers are in high demand as vegetable packers in Mexico, garment workers in China, and cotton harvesters in Egypt. These are all industries characterized by low wages, and poor working conditions including long hours,
