Network Security
Introduction to the company
Description of the DTI:
DTI is a freelance network security provider based in Jacksonville, Florida. The company consists of 14 freelance employees that are assigned their client list from the Jacksonville office. Four employees are in Jacksonville, and the rest are throughout Florida and we have one in southern Georgia.
DTI’s business goals:
DTI is in the planning stages of hiring 20 more employees in Florida, and create a strong foot hold here. We are already have the highest quality security for the money in Florida due to our modular approach to security. We provide counseling to business managers on their networks and provide recommendations on security products according to their needs. This allows our customers to only pay for exactly what they need and keep as much capital available for their business goals.
Introduction to the project.
Project Goals:
Currently DTI assigns work orders to our contractors through a number of different communication methods. Depending on the desires and Microsoft Office skill we may use E-mail, Phone Calls, or Fax to assign jobs. Before we expand we need to make our assignment and reporting process more efficient.
We need our employees to be able to use the functionality of the Outlook E-mail, Task and Calendar functionality. Since most of the requests for proposals come to us through E-mail, we would like to use the Outlook tasking functionality to assign contractors to produce the proposals themselves and submit them back to the home office for final approval, and then out to the client all through Outlook. Our contractors can then add these to their calendars and update their calendars with actual time spent on the specific jobs so that they can better schedule their time. For tracking purposes some journal training may be required as well.
Since contractors will be responsible for creating the initial proposal, they will need to be able to use Microsoft Word, and Microsoft Excel at a basic level. The Proposal’s will be done in Word and the price list of security products and services is in Excel format. Contractor Time sheet and end of month lesson learned reports are also done in Microsoft Word.
Our security and business presentations are done in Power Point and we would like for our contractors to be able to edit some of the information in the slides to personalize them to the area and the company being briefed. Basic functionality and use of the program as a presenter is also required.
While our contractors use Microsoft Visio regularly, we would like to add some intermediate Microsoft Visio Training to this project if the price meets the budget.
