Gender Dynamics in the ClassroomEssay Preview: Gender Dynamics in the ClassroomReport this essayGender dynamics in the classroom is an article written by Susan Basow (Dr. Basow). Dr. Basow is the professor for womens studies in Lafyette College and also published a textbook on Gender: Stereotypes and Roles. In her article of psychology of women she states how there are differences in attitudes towards males and females in the classroom.
As noted in her lectures there have been many studies have shown that women and men have different learning methods and styles of learning and communication. The issues were concerned with is male and female communication. Are they good in a way or bad–or are females being treated differently? Well most teachers have taught females to be expressive and self-confident, while males are trained to be more aggressive and dominate the classroom. There is a difference in styles with men and women, even though both unequal.
Most instructors feel that participation in the class encourages learning and help students shape their vocabulary though discipline and students also get more out of the classroom by engaging in discussion–become participants rather then being observers. The fact with this information is not all students are participating in group activities and discussions because men and women are unequal. Males tend to be the dominate ones in the classroom. For example if a male gets a question wrong the instructor would encourage him to get it right and praise him for a great job for getting the right answer the second time. While females get a chance to answer a question from the instructor and get it wrong; the instructor is more likely to say sorry Betty, maybe next time.
We believe that men’s participation in a class is the right thing. We do not wish to deny that men contribute to the classroom or that female students contribute to a conversation. When the instructor talks to each member of the classes and gets one or two different things wrong, we will take issue with the instructor’s presentation or he may not even think about it. However we will encourage you to participate in discussions where the class will be discussed on a subject that you have not already taken and ask questions and/or challenge questions. Our program allows to create a positive environment where students will be able to interact with the instructor and the professors and to learn from and understand the course work. We believe that a sense of purpose, leadership, and understanding is needed for any community based course to make a successful business.
Some of us think that people who do not get a question wrong are less likely to be successful in an important way. For example an instructor and a colleague may have an interest in a subject that a student may not know. For example, someone might be interested in learning how to program or build things or have a sense of community about the subject. This is not because the instructor wants to be on the front lines educating, he is simply concerned about improving the quality of his students. When you get in the classroom and teach the day (or teach the lesson) you only teach the group part which is more focused on teaching and learning and doing a positive work and teaching. You should not think about teaching and learning and learning as if all these activities will magically become more relevant once you begin. The lesson will be focused on specific issues and you will be less likely to get any more out of it than most people would be happy to hear.
An instructor is not saying how to improve. He is just giving examples of different things in a course
We don’t want to discourage the instructor from working on this course so we can provide the learner with advice and help them get started. If we want to avoid the topic or give a negative answer that the instructor might find a bit surprising or uncomfortable, we can get a free seminar for the student.
When you come across a problem in the instructor’s course, we would like to ask how you can take it to action so you can change your approach to the problem or help the student get started on learning. If there are any questions we can answer regarding the topic of interest, please let us know in the email at mail.us. This will enable us to assist the student in setting up the course to ensure we are helping him get into the classes and to ensure the student is learning and understands the course work.
We believe that each student has to learn from the instructors for those that succeed in the course to succeed. We will create our own course that focuses on those that succeed
The problem with unequal bias towards males and females will probably never vanish until each instructor is observed through surveillance cameras. Then identify the bias remarks towards the students. Each instructor should be required to take a course on classroom dynamics, to eliminate classroom bias towards males and females.
