Gender is referred to the socially defined differences between men and women. Inequality is the unequal opportunities for different individuals within a group or groups within a society. Gender inequality is the social construct when men and/or women have unequal rights, privileges and opportunities compared to the other gender. People acknowledge that there are many differences between men and women. But no one has the right to say that one is better than the other. In reality both of them balance each other one but, men seem to be more dominant due to the fact that they look more masculine so they are associated with power. Females recognize this and push for equality within the genders. Gender inequality has been extremely diverse. Women and men are unequal in certain circumstances, both immediate and continuing, by both objective criteria and subjective experience. Inequality between genders is the act of unequal representation of women and men which is presented through history, work and in families.

Gender Inequality has been present in the past to; it has been the cause of what it has become today. Women were known as house makers, they are responsible to take care of the children. Women stay back and take care of their kids causing them to have fewer rights because they have lower education. Ghandi has caused the change in womans rights in India when he fought for their rights. In India Ghandi made it clear that woman were not weaker than men and they had just as much as power as men and won independence for woman in a non violent manner. After the world war one woman gained independence, woman no longerwanted to caregivers to their husbands. In the 1960s all Canadian women were allowed to vote and this has changed because in the past they werent allowed too. Since they worked hard in the war as nurses they proved to men that they are just as equal. Women didnt have a say in the government. They became nurses and rand shops to show independence. They used their own income and didnt rely on men; this got the attention of many people and thus gaining them independence. Woman campaigned during that time and made it clear to the government that they were just as equal as men and have the right to vote. The government had declared them the right to vote and due to this they also had success in changing the laws on womans married property laws. Canadian woman have been putting their voice out and fighting against inequality injustice since the end of the 19th century. Governments have allowed them to have equal rights because after all, everyone in Canada is to be treated equally. Over all, it is shown through at history there was an unfair advantage to men and woman were considered to be weak. Ghandi had changed this theory in India and woman took charge in Canada and gained their independence.
