Genome Case
One of the main things that has been debated over greatly is whether instinct or human behavior is associated with chromosomes. Well is it?
ā€œThe hereditarian fallacy is not the simple claim that IQ is to some degree ā€œheritableā€ [but] the equation of ā€˜heritableā€™ with ā€˜inevitableā€™.ā€ Ridley first introduces this chapter by explaining how a study was done on a gene ā€˜for intelligenceā€™, which is called the ā€œIntelligence Gene.ā€ A study was done on genes of a group of children with high IQā€™s of about 160. Robert Plomin, the conductor of this experiment hypothesized that the children had the best version of just about every gene that might influence intelligence. After sampling their blood, he discovered a difference on the gene with a sequence lied in the middle of it called IFG2R.

Towards the end of the study, Plomin came to the conclusion that the ā€œIntelligence Geneā€ needs an environmental stimulation in order for them to fully function. After a while, determinists generated a theory that people do not have control over their behaviors while Ridley proposed that genes regulate human instincts from both. This proposition that Ridley proposed was backed up and proven through the data scientists have gathered on premature children development and grammar. In reality, when children are born and grown, they are enrolled into school to get the education and information they need in order to develop mentally and physically. For example, children in their first couple years are taught basic vocabulary skills which does not come naturally. It is well known in society that grammar is pretty well known to an average child making some people generate questions like, has this child been taught grammar before? The answer to that question is no, proven by a linguistic, Noam Chomsky by debating that the human language is influenced by instinct just as much as cultural interaction.
