Genetic ControversiesEssay title: Genetic ControversiesEssay on Genetic ControversiesHypothetically speaking, I am a pregnant woman. I am approached by y doctors to have genetic testing performed on me. I think it is a good idea, so I agree. I take the test, the results come back and I find out that out that the child I am carrying has the gene connected with Sickle Cell Anemia which is a very painful disease that causes severe infections and damage to body organs. It is inherited and it is a life-long condition. I am torn between having the child and putting him or her through a lifelong debilitating sickness or having an abortion. Based on information I would have just obtained from genetic testing I am confused as to what to do. Had I not got the information I would hand just handled the hand I was dealt with. The foreknowledge definitely outs something more in the game.
Some people believe that the Human Genome Project was and is the greatest scientific/medical breakthrough ever. I happened to agree. Genetic testing to identify certain health risk prior to actually having it is major. To know that possibly this is a condition you or your child will have to deal with puts you somewhat in a driver’s position. Knowledge is everything. In doing some reading on genetic testing I found there were pros and cons, as with almost everything in life. I happened to believe that in this situation the good outweighs the bad. Some of the genetic testing available is used for carrier identification, prenatal diagnosis, newborn screening, late-onset disease which includes testing for cancers and heart disease. Genetic testing has some definite benefits. If I and my husband decide to have children and one of us have an inherited sickness, we can possibly find out if the children will inherit
What you’re trying to do is to make sure the American people who understand the basic science are educated and have good ideas on things to avoid, the kind of thing that happens when a disease has been identified.
[p]I read the whole article by a scientist with experience with the Human Genome Project and was surprised by how much scientific information they contained. Many things I was surprised at were their use of very simple and specific questions to help inform human decision, and how much is involved. They have also done some research about using naturalized American populations while working to build an “human gene control network” to help with the genetic check in (and a lot of other) tests. It was very helpful in terms of sharing some of the information they had. However, the information they provide is quite vague, as they don’t seem to really get a lot out of it. Still, it’s very much a good step in the right direction.[/p]
[p]In a nutshell, the Human Genome Project is focused on a specific set of technologies and practices that may assist with the health and well-being of those who are in the genetic process in ways that is often not obvious as opposed to the more complex processes usually assumed to be associated with these technologies. We all need to understand that humans are not designed to solve any complex “complex problem”. In my opinion there is no scientific proof (that’s what they are claiming) that genetic research can predict (or predict accurately) how we will respond to certain diseases or diseases associated with our genes once we become an individual or have a genetic mutation. The main reason for the focus on technology is to make sure that people understand how they will live their lives as a non-conformist and socially non-conforming human being without an agenda, and have a sense that they will be well-informed towards their biological, medical, and social needs. You can find something to learn from the Human Genome Project or to try to identify an actual gene that is related to specific health problems or diseases. One of the main features of their research is the use of genetic and environmental testing as part of the system. I’ve encountered people who have tested certain things, and it certainly shows up in their reactions to what they see.
[p]This approach has been in my family for quite some time. My sister’s family has done many different things in her life through it. Many people are happy with the basic tenets of her family model, however this is probably to be the most difficult way to make her parents see things as a family. I think it helps that she is always in a positive way about people, and that it helps to make sense of why such a small group of people would have to participate in a complex scientific study. The benefits of the DNA and environmental testing approach are apparent in the fact that it can also help people to do what they can to increase their personal quality of life.
[p]As always, I like to note that I am currently not part of any medical research group, I have worked as a consultant, worked with many medical specialists and even helped a lot of health professionals working in the HIV/AIDS and AIDS research area. However, I do believe that the research that is done on such a large scale is crucial and deserves a lot of attention. The idea in the first part of the discussion is to build up some sort of network around these issues, and I believe you will see that this will help you develop a higher level of understanding on the issue. I believe that it could also
